We also advise recording artists, songwriters, independent labels, music producers and managers. Our transactional work includes: drafting and negotiating recording agreements; label and production agreements; joint venture contracts; agreements for the sale or licensing of recording or publishing catalogs; agreements between artists and independent producers, managers and agents; partnership or shareholder agreements among band members; contracts with performance venues; co-publishing and administration agreements, as well as the licensing of songs for synchronization, mechanical reproductions, public performance, and print uses. We counsel artists on the digital music industry, structure prevailing business models, from digital downloads to streaming to hybrid subscription services. We also counsel music producers and labels respecting copyright, defamation, and rights of privacy issues that arise with music lyrics, album cover designs, and music videos.
